If you’re after a super easy and quick salad dressing to keep in your repertoire? This zingy lemon dressing with mustard and maple syrup may be it! It’s outrageously easy to make (just put everything in a jar and shake) and it’s incredibly versatile – it’s at home on an array of different salads.

The dressing takes only about five minutes to throw together and can last in the fridge for a while. Make a big batch and use it for whenever you need a mild yet flavourful salad dressing! You’ll never consider buying a bottle again.

How to Make Maple Lemon Salad Dressing

As I’ve already mentioned, this dressing is about as easy as they come and all you need to do is throw everything in a jar and shake it up. It’s even easier than my grapefruit vinaigrette and that’s really saying something!

Start off by juicing a lemon into a jar. To the lemon juice, also add in a grated clove of garlic.

Once that’s done, go ahead and add a bit of mustard to the jar. I like using a mixture of both whole grain and Dijon mustard because they offer different things and add a bit of complexity to the dressing. This is similar to what I do in my dressing for my broccoli and green bean salad.

Then, add in a touch of maple syrup to give it a bit of sweetness and to cut the acidity of the lemon juice and mustard.

Now, I also like to add a finely chopped anchovy fillet because it adds such a nice complexity and unami, but you can leave it out if you want to keep it vegetarian. If you do use the anchovy, the dressing won’t taste fishy, just more complex than simply salty.

Once all this is added, pour over some extra virgin olive oil and tightly secure the lid of the jar. Vigorously shake the jar until all of the ingredients are incorporated and the dressing is emulsified.

Your dressing is now done! Go ahead and drizzle it over whatever salad you’d like (it’s great on my spinach & arugula salad but just as good on my kale and white bean salad) or keep it in the fridge until you need it – make sure to give it a good shake before using.
