Made only with block chocolate, this decadent hot drink is the perfect sweet treat in the colder months. For a little bit of a kick, include some cinnamon and/or a pinch of cayenne pepper!
Add both chocolates, the sugar, the cinnamon and cayenne pepper, if using, the milk and 500ml (2 cups) of water to a small saucepan and set over medium heat.
Whisking constantly, gently heat up the mixture and melt the chocolate. Once the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is just shy of a simmer, remove from the heat. Serve immediately (see note 2), topping with marshmallows or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Use whatever kind of milk you have on hand; whole milk vs skimmed milk doesn't matter.
The hot chocolate can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Simply reheat it on the stovetop over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until the desired temperature is reached.
